Although the final design of the rebuilt
tower is still under consideration, the structure is expected to be relatively
similar to that shown in the conceptual drawing below.

This drawing is based on the criteria decided on at the
March 7, 2008, meeting of the HKEC Design Committee:
- A 360 degree view, raised tower with a “High Knob Henge” angle
(having to do with how the sun hit’s the structure during the
several seasons), and using interpretative display panels.
- Low maintenance structure which does not require being staffed.
- Use of an observation plaza with a stone tower.
- Natural vegetation to be preserved.
- Structure made of durable fireproof materials.
- A vehicle for showcasing historical and cultural background.
- A simple structure not requiring a lot of equipment to be taken to
the site.
- Blends with natural setting.
In addition to the criteria listed above, a gently
sloping trail will spiral around the hillside from the parking area to
the tower, ensuring that the tower is accessible to everyone. |
